One of the main objectives of the Archeometry Laboratory is to establish the Field Archaeology Unit. Accordingly, it is planned to support the archaeologists, who perform studies in the field, as well as the archaeological projects by providing any equipment and personnel service with respect to the digital imaging, measurement and remote sensing during the excavation and field studies.

Also, it is intended to analyze the cultural heritage, which cannot be transported in the field, on an elemental or mineralogical basis by using the various analytical techniques and devices for the purpose of studying the cultural heritage in situ without any damage thereto.

Since most of the archaeological finds are of non-transportable nature, it is required to carry out on-site studies through the portable devices. We intend to meet the deficit of Turkey in the field of field archaeology by procuring and equipping the Field Archaeology Mobile Laboratory Vehicle containing such devices.
